Marc Hispard
FOUNDATION STONE
There are lives like that. Immediate. Lives made out of a single gesture. They are clear cut, without any hesitation, mistakes or alteration. They seem to follow the path of their destiny without ever straying.
They cannot be told, they just go by, naturally.
That is the life of Marc Hispard. Or at least that is how it looks. A lab assistant from the age of 15 up until now where his signature, more than a reference in fashion photography, is an anchor point against any drifting, against the temptations of the sirens of modernity. A foundation stone that resists the hyper sophistication of the digital world; preferring the pixels of the loving chemistry between the light and the silver nitrate to technology, favoring the smells of the dark room to the clicks and double clicks. A foundation stone that resists any alteration toward exactitude. A foundation stone from fear that one morning all fashion photographers will be changed into fashion draftsmen; from fear that one day computer graphic artists will take the place of art directors; from fear that one night the natural beauty of women be abandoned to our fantasies. That is why according to Marc Hispard a good picture is less the sky such as we imagine it, it is less the talent of a graphic pallet of such and such software; that is why a good picture, according to him, remains a unique moment, infinitely small, a fraction of a second where the light, the model, the wind and the rest turn hazard into providence which must remain as such : natural.
